Compositions

an invisible lineage (2024) – solo piano

A heartfelt dedication to my late piano teacher, with whom I studied for over 14 years. Listen for excitement and nostalgia from embedded classical melodies—sounds from our time together. Premiered by Manhattan School of Music students as a part of Yiming Wu’s In BLOOM concert at Opera America, NYC.

Memoir of Morocco (2023) – brass and percussion

Written for the National Youth Orchestra as a part of the composer apprentice program, premiered by NYO-USA on July 14th, 2023 at Carnegie Hall (video below shows performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas).

Fluttering Hearts (2023) – full orchestra

Commissioned by the Philharmonic of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO). Premiered May 14th, 2023.

Water Interludes (2022) – for strings, brass, piano, water percussion

Commissioned by the Philharmonic of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO). Premiered May 22nd, 2022.

Muse (2021) – large orchestra

A contemplative piece reflecting the composer’s creative process, from hazy beginnings to sporadic ideas.


Smiling at the Sunrise (2021) – strings, winds, and piano 

A refreshing small orchestra piece reflecting on the freedom of summer break. Lots of fun for younger student musicians to learn!

Solace in a Storm (2024 rendition, written 2020) – piano & violin

Performed by ChamberQueer musicians as a part of The Nebula Project Volume I: Little Gems, in collaboration with Luna Lab.

exhalation (2024) – cello, piano

Inspired by Ted Chiang’s Exhalation and its call on readers to realize life’s impermanence, to remember the beauty of our existence, and to cherish every breath.

Seventeen (2023) – flute, clarinet, piano, violin, cello

Written as part of the Luna Composition Lab Fellowship, premiered by the International Contemporary Ensemble on June 10th, 2023.

Home at Heart (2021)- for violin and piano quintet

A warm, melodious piece about experiences with family and culture in China. Written around the Lunar New Year.

Rumination (2021) – clarinet, violin, and cello

Written during Indiana University’s Summer Composition Academy while studying with Don Freund.

Visionary Maze Runner (2021) – string quartet

A mysterious and colorful quartet about the journey of an imaginative character trying to escape the great difficulty of insecurity and low self-esteem.

The Magic Forest at Night (2020) – small orchestra

A mystical piece about an individual’s exciting journey through a magical forest.



Solace in a Storm (2020) – piano & violin

A duet about finding my calm in a storm of emotions and events. Written during the hurricane season in the year of a global pandemic. 

Dream Voyage (2020) – solo piano

(My first composition!) A piano piece representing an individual’s dreamy adventure.
